-= HOW TO DETECT PROBLEMS =-
The Joystick Calibration Utility provides both a means for calibrating
joysticks on a IBM PC/XT/AT/PS/2 or 100% compatible personal computer, the
program does not work on Tandy computer systems, and allows users to test
the joystick card and joystick for problems.
If you have been having difficulty with your joystick, try running the
Joystick Calibration utility and move the stick slowly to the right and see
what it reports. If the numbers change in a consistent manner your X axis
potentiometer is functioning correctly.
Now, move the stick fully foward and then slowly move it back watching the
numbers in the Y axis column. If the numbers jump around or change in large
increments, this normally indicates worn and/or pitted potentionmeters which
should be replaced.
Numbers changing erratically usually indicate a problem in the joystick
itself or the card, you should then check your hardware for defects.
